Cher, a 75-year-old singer and actress, sued the widow of her former husband, Sonny Bono, who was a California Congressman and Mayor of Palm Springs.
In 1975, a number of divorce agreements were concluded, which stated that Cher had 50 per cent of the royalties. Sonny’s heirs and current widow attempted to terminate the agreement in 2016, unilaterally, but Cher claimed they could not.
By agreement with her ex-husband, she is entitled to $1 million in damages in the event of termination. Mary Bono’s widow, in her defense, claims that they have the full right to recover all copyrights.
